Andrew Demolat - Band Director
Andrew Demolat is currently in his 3rd year as Band Director for Cheatham Middle School, and his 6th year of teaching.
A native of Cobb County, Georgia, Mr. Demolat holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from The University of Southern Mississippi. While at Southern Miss, he served on the leadership team of the Pride of Mississippi Marching Band for 3 years, as well as serving as an active officer in the Eta Phi chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity. Mr. Demolat has studied saxophone with Dr. Lawrence Gwozdz and Bob Cowles, and conducting with Dr. Mohamad Schuman.
Mr. Demolat joined the faculty of the Poplarville School District in 2015, and served as both the Assistant Director of Bands for Poplarville High School, and well as Director of Bands for the Middle School of Poplarville. During his tenure at Poplarville, the band program saw an overall 75% increase in program enrollment and retention, while also receiving Superior ratings at contest and placing top 12 at MSHAA State Marching Championships. Mr. Demolat was responsible for 3 Concert Bands consisting of over 100 members, a 65 member Marching Band, as well as supervising various small ensembles and soloists.
Since joining the staff at Cheatham Middle School in 2018, Mr. Demolat has helped grow the band significantly. The 2020 - 2021 band includes nearly 80 of our students, a near 100% increase in enrollment and retention. Mr. Demolat is currently responsible for the CMS Concert Band, Beginning Band, and the Pep Band.
Mr. Demolat has performed with the Mississippi Wind Symphony, the Southern Miss Wind Ensemble, and the Southern Miss Saxophone Chamber Orchestra. He is affiliated with professional organizations which include the National Association for Music Educators, National Band Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Professional Music Fraternity.
Mr. Demolat and his wife Elizabeth have one cat, Lorelai.
