About Me!

My name is Rebecca McCullough. I am a fifth grade teacher. I teach science and social studies. I am married. I am currently expecting my first child in May. I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy sports, especially the Nashville soccer team and Vanderbilt football and basketball.

March 18-22 Newsletter

Social Studies

  • We are beginning to look at westward expansion. This includes American Indians, the Great Plans, role of immigrants in America, the role of Buffalo Soldiers and the beginning of the Spanish American War. This unit will be split up into multiple assessments and the first one will be on Thursday. 
  • Students need to study over notes every night to ensure understanding of the material and to help know information for tests.  
 

Science

  • We will begin to look at relationship between the positions of the sun, earth, and moon. We will be looking at eclipses and moon phases.  We will plan to test over this on Tuesday. 
  • We will look at tilt of the Earth's axis and how it causes changes in day-lengths and seasons and we will plan to test over this on Thursday.    
  • We are doing a service project in 4-H.  We are collecting quarters this month.

Social Studies - Mrs. McCullough  
• This week we will  be wrapping up Industrialization. We will plan to give this test on Wednesday.
• After this we will move on to Westward Expansion. 
• Students need to study over notes every night to ensure understanding of the material and to help know information for tests.

February 19 – February 22 Newsletter

Social Studies
  • This week, we will finish up our unit over Reconstruction. This includes the Reconstruction Plans, Ku Klux Klan, and election of Rutherford B. Hayes.
  • We will test over Reconstruction Wednesday, February 20th.
    Next we will begin learning about Westward Expansion. This week we will specifically be looking at the Constitutional Convention of 1860 and th impact of yellow fever. We will test over these standards as well as few more next week.
    Students need to study over notes every night to ensure understanding of the material and to help know information for tests.
 
Science  
  • We are learning about different bodies found within our solar system. We are looking at various objects like planets, comets, asteroids, meteoroids and a few others. Students will not only be expected to identify various objects, but also compare them.
  • We will test over this information on Friday, February 22nd.  
  •  We are doing 4-H doing a service project. We are collecting dimes this month.

-This week, we will look at the Reconstruction plans of Lincoln, Johnson, and Congress. We will be comparing and contrasting these three plans.
-We will test over Reconstruction plans on Friday, February 1st.
Students need to study over notes every night to ensure understanding of the material and to help know information for tests.

-This week, we will move on to stars. We will be explaining the difference in the brightness of the sun compared to other stars. We will test over this standard on Thursday, January 31st. 
- Then we begin to learn about different galaxies. 
-Our next 4-H meeting is will be in February. If your child would like to complete a 4-H poster for the competition. These are due by the end of the month. Also with 4-H we are doing a service project. We are collecting dimes this month.

February 4th-8th Newsletter

Social Studies

January 22-25 Newsletter

Social Studies
This week, we are analyzing the goals and accomplishments of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments as well as the Freedman’s Bureau and Fisk University. We will test over this standard on Wednesday, January 23.
Then we will look at the Reconstruction plans of Lincoln, Johnson, and Congress. We will be comparing and contrasting these three plans.
Students need to study over notes every night to ensure understanding of the material and to help know information for tests. If they do not have their notes, I will upload the guided notes filled in as a standard is finished.


Science -
We will be learning about how the gravitation force is directed toward the center of the Earth and how mass and distance affect gravity.
Next we will move on to stars. We will be explaining the difference in the brightness of the sun compared to other stars.
