CMS Weekly Update 10-1-2017



Hello CMS Families!


      Everyone is invited to come out next Thursday (October 5th) and see our Live Art Gallery presentation.  The Live Art Gallery will not begin until 6pm; however, participants should arrive no later than 5pm in order to conduct any last minute preparations.  I also wanted to remind everyone about our first Positive Behavior Super Friday event which will take place all day October 6th.  We will be selling food throughout the duration of this event in order to raise money in support of our Positive Behavior Program.  If you would like to assist us in support of our Positive Behavior program, we are requesting the following items from the following grades.  We will be accepting donations every day between now and Friday the 6th.    


5th Grade:  Chips (assorted)

6th Grade:  Candy (assorted)

7th Grade:  Drinks (individual size cans/bottles)

8th Grade:  Snack Cakes (assorted)    




News From Around CMS:

From Coach Carter:  All football equipment and uniforms are due to Coach Carter by Monday, October 2nd. Please clean everything and place in your football locker so Coach Carter can check you off. 


From Mr. Cooke:  The first payment of $110 for the 7/8th grade trip to Atlanta is due October 10th.

Checks should be made out to Executive Travel and given to Mr. Cooke. No cash will be accepted. If you wish to pay by card, please call Executive Travel of Ashland City.

From Mrs. Canterbury:  Career Day will be at Cheatham Middle School on November 15 from 8-9:45.  If you, or anyone you know of would like to give a 20-25 minute presentation to three different classes on that morning, we would appreciate you sharing your time and knowledge with us.   Please email for more details. 


From Mrs. Jamie Wilson:   Parents, when a student misses a day of school.  It’s required we have documentation. Please send any notes we may need for your child.


From Mrs. Hall:    Math tutoring for students in all grade levels is Thursdays after school from 3 – 4 p.m. in room 116.  My only request is that your child know what skills and/or assignment they most need help with.  Pickup is in the front of the building. 


In addition, Jr. Beta and Jr. Civitan will begin collecting new socks for our annual #socktober drive next week.  The drive will continue through the month of October.  Socks in all sizes and types, baby – adult, would be greatly appreciated.  Your family’s donation will be used to benefit those in our own community.


From Mrs. Taylor:  Drama Club's last interest meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd has been moved to Wednesday, Oct. 4th from 3:00 to 4:00 in the Band Room.  All meetings/rehearsals will be every Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:00 in the Band Room when we return from fall break. Permission slips should be turned in to Mrs. Taylor in room 207.


From Mrs. Miller:  The Yearbook Committee is looking for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are interested joining. Meetings will be once a month every Thursday after school until 4 p.m. Students who are on the Yearbook Committee will assist in creating the 2018 yearbook’s design and compilation. Some skills needed to join the committee include photography and basic computer knowledge. If you are interested in joining, please pick up an application from Mrs. Miller in room 110. The deadline to turn in applications are October 20th.


From Mrs. Heflin:  Last Chance Book Fair shopping will take place Monday until 8:00 a.m. Thanks to everyone for such a great turnout last Thursday morning and all the support of our fall book fair.  100% AR is due this Friday, October 6.
